When it comes to health screenings, Idaho struggles. It has the country’s worst mammogram rate and almost every other state is booking more Pap smears. But wai -- —it also has the second lowest rate of women with cervical cancer. Ok, this makes us shudder: might there just be a heck of a lot of Idahoans going undiagnosed? Same goes for breast cancer, colon cancer and ovarian cancer, all of which also have lower-than-average rates. With a shocking one in four women lacking health insurance, we’re really not surprised Idahoans aren’t up-to-date on those screenings.
Idaho’s strong suit: laying off the cigarettes. Females here have one of the lowest smoking and lung cancer rates in the country. Ladies in the Potato State are also applauded for their healthy, veggie-stocked diets and for knowing the value in working up a sweat: they are some of the most physically active women in the country.
See where Idaho ranks on the health issues below. Remember, #1 is healthiest; #50 is least healthy.
