How Healthy Are Women in Kentucky?

No surprise here: the state with the highest percentage of female smokers also has the highest rate of women with lung cancer.

And unfortunately, “the heartland” doesn’t really mean heart health: Kentucky women have just about the highest rate of heart disease in the country.

Yet when it comes to Kentucky’s bad habits, drinking isn’t one of them. The state might be known for its bourbon (and a mint julep or two on Derby day), but Kentucky ladies keep it classy. Only 7 percent of women here admit to binge drinking -- one of the lowest rates in the country, and half that of Wisconsin.

See where Kentucky ranks on the health issues below. Remember, #1 is healthiest; #50 is least healthy.
