How I Met Your Mother 100th Episode

Boy, Future Ted (Bob Saget) is one long-winded guy. His detailed description of How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8 PM ET) has reached its 100^th episode. And young Ted (Josh Radnor) still hasn't met her!

Maybe Future Ted is a lot like Michael Scott (Steve Carell) of The Office, who also tells stories that go on... and on... and on. He gets away with it because he's the boss. Of course, HIMYM's hero gets away with it because the tantalizing tangents about Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alyson Hannigan), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) are what this show is really about.

In this milestone episode, Ted's story line involves guest Rachel Bilson. But the episode focuses more on Barney and the hot bartender who delivers the lady-killer an ultimatum: Lose the stuffy suits, or lose her. His sartorial preference wins the day -- but not without reasoned consideration, via a full-scale musical number including 75 dancers. "Every girl and every bro need to know that there is no substitute," Barney sings, "Nothing suits me like a suit!"

It's just another silly moment that likely has no bearing on Ted's baby mama's identity. That said, apparently a major clue will be revealed. "We get as close to her as you can possibly get in our 100th episode," teases co-creator Carter Bays in a TV Guide interview. "It's a moment that will make hearts atwitter."

Presumably, once Ted meets her, the show's premise is weakened, if not lost. So presumably, that won't happen any time soon. Surely Future Ted has many more extraneous details to entertain us with!
