How Long before Menstruation?

I gave birth to my daughter six weeks ago, and my period has not returned yet. I bled for three weeks after the birth, then had about a week of spotting and then a light colored discharge until now. When should my periods start up again? I am not breastfeeding, so that is not the cause. When I had my son, my obstetrician had to give me Provera to jump start my periods at 10 weeks postpartum, so I am unclear on when they should start.

Question:

I have found the average return of menses to be six to eight weeks postpartum. I would sit tight and wait, but consider yourself fertile in the meantime.
