1 cup (7 oz.) granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice or cloves
Peel, core and quarter 3 pounds of firm, crisp apples. Cut each quarter into rough 1/2-inch slices (about 3 to 4 slices per quarter).
