How to Make Nursery Rhyme Rhythms

• A homemade drum or an empty oatmeal box
• Other hand held musical toys

While chanting or singing a nursery rhyme, have your child tap it out on the drum or oatmeal box. This musical activity can be made more challenging and interesting by adding other instruments as accents. The adult taps out the basic rhythm while the child accents with bells, spoons, or shakers.
