Did you go green this holiday season? Well, keep the eco-friendly momentum going: Rather than putting your Christmas tree on the curb this week, recycle it. The holiday may be over, but your tree can still be a star for the planet! Recycled trees can be used for a variety of environmentally helpful projects, from being turned into mulch for planting to becoming a habitat for wildlife. (To find out how different communities use recycled trees, visit the National Christmas Tree Association.)
Check with your community waste authority to find tree recycling programs in your neighborhood, or head to Earth911.com to get a directory of recycling organizations near you.
How long do you typically leave your tree up after the holidays? Chime in below!
