Taylor Swift may have hit the legal drinking age on Monday, as she celebrated her 21st birthday, but the country star didn't have any elaborate bar-hopping plans for the big day. Instead, Swift, who is reportedly dating Jake Gyllenhaal, was back at home in Nashville, where she did some low-key partying.
"Plans? For my birthday? This is it! This was all I planned for," Swift joked to Nashville DJ Gerry House on WSIX, Monday morning. "It snowed yesterday, you know, so that kind of limits activities. I may sit inside my apartment and pretend I'm in a snow globe. Later on I might have plans, but not really during the day."
At 21, the country star has won four Grammy awards and her latest CD, Speak Now, is already triple platinum. But Swift says she's not too overwhelmed by all that she's accomplished at this young age. "Things feel really good on this birthday, really great in fact." And, she says, she plans to do her best to stay grounded. "I don't feel older all of a sudden," she said "It's a state of mind thing, how you see the world, being excitable, staying excitable and impressionable and doing your best not to become jaded or bitter. I think keeping your mind and your heart open keeps you young."
Proof that she's still young at heart? Swift admitted on Twitter that she spent the night before her big day "dancing around my room alone to @pink's greatest hits cd," after having an early celebration with two friends. "Tonight @caitlinbird and @elizabethhuett knocked on my door -- they brought a pizza with a lit 21 candle on it and bday hats. :)"
