Say It In (Movie) Style

An Oscar party invite is an excellent way to brighten up a mailbox. “It’s the perfect time of year for a party — the holidays have passed, and it’s not quite spring. People have the winter doldrums, so they’re looking forward to having something fun to do,” says Libby Langdon, interior designer and commentator on HGTV’s Small Space, Big Style.

So jumpstart that movie-loving fun by going to your local theater and asking the manager for “short ends” — the little pieces they cut off when loading the film reel onto the projector. (If you don’t have luck with that, just go retro and get some good ol’ fashioned 35mm camera film.) Write all the pertinent party details on the film strips with a silver or gold metallic pen, then send them out in padded mailers that sport the label “And the award goes to…” Really, who could possibly RSVP “No" to that?
