Aussie superstars Hugh Jackman and Elle Macpherson have a reason to look so royally delighted. The two celebrities were among a select group of notable Australians invited to meet Queen Elizabeth II at a Buckingham Palace reception Oct. 13.
The Queen hosted the event in anticipation of her 11-day trip Down Under to meet with leaders of Commonwealth nations, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Dressed in a modest (but body skimming) Donna Karan dress, supermodel Macpherson said the Queen's trip to Australia was important. "It's great for us and great for her," she said.
"They love her there, the only issue I know is she cannot make every city," he said. "Even the republicans, the ones in Australia who want to see Australia move on, still have great respect and love for the Queen. I've never heard anyone say different."
Jackman may have been formal when asked about the Queen's diplomatic trip, but when asked what it was like to be hosted at Buckingham Palace, he joked: "As an Aussie it feels weird, I'm just waiting to get thrown out."
