Are you a Hunger Games fan who can barely stand the 21-day wait until the film hits theaters? Well then, you're in luck -- because a new clip from the movie has just been released, and it is amazing.
The scene follows leading lady Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she's being evaluated by the Gamemakers so they can rank her abilities. She shoots a perfect bull's-eye with a bow and arrow, but the Gamemakers are too distracted by the feast laid out in front of them to even notice her amazing feat. Desperate to make them notice her, Katniss takes aim at the Gamemakers and shoots the apple right out of their suckling pig's mouth.
The look on the face of Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) is worth the whole clip. It's one we've seen in previously released trailers, but it's so much better in context. And that beard! We definitely can't get enough of Crane's expertly designed facial hair.
If this scene is indicative of how the rest of The Hunger Games will look, consider us very excited. It looks like director Gary Ross has perfectly captured the tone of the book and found the right way to portray Katniss' emotions.
It seems the book's author, Suzanne Collins, is equally impressed by the film -- and she's seen the whole thing! She posted her response to seeing the finished Hunger Games film to the movie's Facebook page on March 1.
"I feel like the book and the film are individual yet complementary pieces that enhance one another," she said. "Director Gary Ross has created an adaptation that is faithful in both narrative and theme, but he’s also brought a rich and powerful vision of Panem, its brutality and excesses, to the film as well."
She added that the film will offer a look "beyond Katniss' point of view," which will allow the audience to see places such as the Hunger Games control room and President Snow's rose garden, "thereby adding a new dimension to the story."
The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23.
