Lionsgate is celebrating the new year by providing Hunger Games fans a look at more photos from the movie, which is now less than three months away!
The brand-new stills are mostly images that can be seen (however briefly) in the full trailer, but the high-resolution pictures offer a close-up look at Jennifer Lawrence's teen heroine Katniss Everdeen and the key supporting characters, including Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket. The image here depicts the moment after Katniss volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the titular Games to the death.
Two other photos from the dystopian thriller show the most important men in Katniss' life: the heroine talking to her best friend Gale (Liam Hemsworth); and her fellow Hunger Games contestant Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) conferring with her personal stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) and her often-drunk Games mentor Haymitch (shaggy-haired Woody Harrelson, looking curiously like Kurt Cobain).
But it's the shots of Katniss herself that will prove the most captivating. There's a behind-the-scenes photo of Lawrence looking slightly bloody in Katniss' full uniform from the Games; a pic of her being escorted by Capitol guards; and a gripping look at Katniss in some elevator-like tube, as she's about to ascend to the Arena, where the Hunger Games are "played."
With the March 23 release only 78 days away, the odds are ever in our favor that there will be even more Hunger Games fervor to come.
