Coventry Stool
It's quite a challenge to comb through 145,000 square feet full of 590 exhibitors from 40 countries, and pick the best of the best from all that design goodness. But a panel of judges, representing magazines such as Wallpaper* and Metropolis, did just that to determine the winners of the 2010 ICFF Editors Awards. Here's some of our favorites among the awardees:
The Rhode Island-based Studio Dunn,--led by talented young RISD grads--took the prize for New Designer and the simple-but-perfect Coventry Stool, available in maple, cherry and walnut, is the perfect example of why.
"It's been phenomenal," founder Asher Dunn said of his inaugural ICFF. "We've gotten a lot of feedback to develop the collection in the future." (Coventry stool, $320, studiodunn.com)

Looking at this multi-colored clock, designed by Thomas Buchheim for Kikkerland Design seems like an ideal way to pass the time. No wonder Kikkerland won the Accessories award. (Ultra-flat wall clock, $40, kikkerlandshop.com)

In addition to being lovely to look at, the Ikebana flat-panel LED light by Peter Stathis & Virtual Studio has a 360-degree range of adjustability in all axes. "This is almost more of a sculpture that also produces light," says Derrick Hurst, an industrial designer at the San Francisco-based studio, which won the award for Lighting. (Ikebana table lamp, about $350, not yet available, peterstathis.com for more information)

Blu Dot won for its Body of Work since its founding in 1997 (the Strut alone made it worthy!). The company debuted the charming Cant Desk, featuring a walnut-veneer desktop and choice of grey or bright red steel accents. (Cant desk, available soon, $599, bludot.com for information)
