Have you guys been paying attention to the latest American Idol scandal? If not, here's what's happening: Some kid named Akron Watson sang his way to Hollywood via the San Antonio auditions. Three months after his audition -- and two days before he was supposed to show up in L.A. -- the Idol producers mysteriously cut him. They gave him no reason, no explanation, nothin'. A Dallas newspaper, however, reported that Akron was disqualified based on a 2003 misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge. Akron says there's no reason the producers should have been surprised. "I was completely open about my background, any trouble I had been in, my medical history - everything!" he tells People. "They ask all that information before you audition." Somehow I find it hard to believe that they really vet everyone who auditions and that all the thousands of other contestants who have ever made it to the Hollywood round have had no prior records, but whatever. So, this kid is pissed! He's even started his own MySpace page called BringAkBack, where he's petitioning the local media and the general public to get on board with trying to get him back on the show. What do you think? Should Idol bring Ak back?
