'Idol' Finalist Booted for Dad's Loose Lips

Should a contestant be disqualified because of a family member's mistake?

Sources are buzzing that one of American Idol's Top 24 contestants was disqualified this weekend, after his father revealed to a local newspaper that he was one of the chosen finalists.

According to the New York PostMichael "Big Mike" Lynche's dad reportedly confirmed to the St. Petersburg Times that his son had made the season 9 semifinal round on the Fox talent competition.

The leaking of any inside information before the show airs violates a confidentiality agreement all contestants are required to sign. The Post says Lynche -- a high school football star whose mom also works at the St. Petersburg Times -- has already been replaced by another singer from the top 50.

Fox has declined to comment.
