I just read the cover story in the New York Times' House & Home section. The article, Easy, Mr. Fix-it, discussed the dangers of doing home repairs yourself. Not stating that you shouldn’t make these repairs, but that it’s easy to hurt yourself (slicing off a finger, nailing your shoe to your foot) and others (losing control of a ladder, dropping metal on to someone’s head).
My gasping and sighing probably bothered my fellow subway riders, but I couldn’t believe the horror stories that happened to everyday homeowners.
I highly recommend you read the story to be aware of safety measures you should take as well as learn what jobs may need a professional handyman or contractor to prevent doing harm to you, your home or others.
