Joseph Gordon-Levitt took to his Twitter account Tuesday to reveal the sad news that his brother, Dan Gordon-Levitt had passed away. He was only 36.

"My super hero brother @burningdan 1974-2010," the Inception star wrote.

Dan, who was a fire-spinning artist and flow arts teacher, was found unresponsive in his Hollywood home early Monday, according to the L.A. County Coroner. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. On Wednesday, L.A. County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said the young performer's death may be related to drugs.

"It was initially reported to us as a possible overdose," says Winter. "There were two friends present and one of them also was taken to the hospital."

Before his death, Joseph (who's
also known for his roles in 3rd Rock from the Sun and 500 Days of Summer) and his brother had created a multi-media website. The actor posted this message on the site Tuesday: "BURNING dAN brightly embodied that bold beastly bliss sometimes referred to as 'the creative spirit'. He would absolutely positively insist that we not let this bad news deter us on our collective mission...So let's celebrate him, he's f--king awesome."
