Though indifelity rumors sometimes prove true (Jesse James and Sandra Bullock, for instance), we don't like to believe that celeb couples are breaking their vows. Now we have continuing, pesky speculation surrounding Ashton Kutcher's extracurricular activiities, and the cracks in his marriage to Demi Moore.
The rumors started back on Sept. 27 when Star ran a cover story claiming that Kutcher, 32, cheated on Moore, 47, his wife of five years for a second time with a 21-year-old named Brittney Jones.
Kutcher quickly fired back from his Twitter page, "I think Star magazine calling me a 'cheater' qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees," and added, "STAR magazine - you don't get to stand behind 'freedom of the press' when you are writing fiction. Moore then retweeted with a response that read, "Excellent point my love!"
But that hasn't deterred Star from writing a follow-up. The cover of the tabloid this week boasts they have text messages between Kutcher and Jones, including suggestive ones that say, ""what are u wearing now?" Jones also claims Kutcher was "really paranoid" about their relationship.
Of course, a post from RadarOnline.com today punches holes in Jones' story. A source close to her said Jones "has always been obsessed" with the Killers star and "She told me once that he was by far the number one celebrity she'd like to have sex with." So could this just be a case of fan obsession gone way overboard?
Meanwhile, it looks like the folks over at People magazine suspect the rumors, sadly, could be very true. The cover line this week wonders if Moore and Kutcher's marriage is "under fire." The story, which neither Kutcher or Moore provided comment for, features sources close to the pair who say they are "angry" about the rumors.
Another possible red flag? A source claims the two have a "Kind of a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy" in their marriage and that their age difference has caught up with them. As an industry colleague put it, "Somehow I thought (the age difference) was going to come back to haunt them. He got married young and, as crass as this sounds, never seemed to have his fill."
