I need a car. Target is opening its first store in Manhattan later this month, and I could really use the trunk space for all my loot! Besides the usual aisles of household goods, beauty products and home decor, the East Harlem location will also feature mini, super affordable collections from designers who were inspired by the neighborhood, including swimwear from Isabel and Ruben Toledo. (Yup, the Isabel Toledo, one of Michelle Obama's go-to designers.)
From funky beach towels (I'm obsessed with the butterfly print) to splashy swimsuits, the Isabel and Ruben Toledo for Target collection screams "You need a vacation!" The cerulean blue triangle bikini ($17.99) will become your pool party staple, while the red off-the-shoulder one piece offers a twist on the traditional figure-flattering silhouette ($34.99). And ditch your boring beach cover-up for this navy number with subtly sexy cut-outs ($24.99). Other pieces in the collection range in price from $17.99 to $34.99.
Plus, you can feel good about your purchases. Five percent of each product's price will go towards El Museo del Barrio, a non-profit organization chosen by the designers.
Don't live in the New York City area? Starting August 1, the items will be available on Target. While you're there, browse the other Harlem-influenced lines, including kitchen accessories with bold veggie and fruit designs from Marcus Samuelsson and color-blocked summer dresses from Stephen Burrows.
