Naomi Watts recently admitted she’d try for a third baby if she could guarantee it would be a girl, according to the May issue of SHE magazine. She and husband actor Liev Schreiber are parents to two boys, Alexander “Sasha” Pete, 2 ½, and Samuel Kai, 16 months.
Is that so wrong? Does that make her a bad person?
I’m one of those women who has always wanted a daughter -- I want to do all those girly things like dress her up in cute outfits and take her to dance classes (if she wants to, of course). I don’t relate to “boy stuff” like sports and bugs and video games -- but I also know that if I had a son, I wouldn’t love him any less for being a boy.
When celebrity chef Jamie Oliver admitted that after having two daughters with his wife, Jools, he was really hoping for a son, people were outraged. But his desire for a son was not a rejection of baby girls. In the end, Oliver got a third daughter -- Petal Blossom Rainbow -- who I’m sure he loves unconditionally.
