It's the Little Things

It was after the birth of my first daughter, now 18, that I genuinely and truly began to appreciate and cherish everything "special" that my own mother had done for me all while growing up. I am one of NINE siblings!!

On becoming a mother myself and experiencing that great feeling of unconditional love I began to reflect on all the great "little" things I had received from Mom. Her quiet lessons of love, patience, sharing and compassion remain with me still each day. The joy I felt when I would watch (unseen) my two year old daughter with my mother, sharing "tea" and cookies over amusing "toddler" conversation, baking "no special occasion" cookies and not caring where the flour flew, goes beyond any words.

I thank my mother for so many things but mostly for teaching and preparing me for a wonderful motherhood of my own. If I've been half as wonderful as she is, then my own daughters might be experiencing great "little" things too.
