Before playing Kelly Garrett on the original Charlie's Angels television series, Smith was a model and a dancer who first caught the public's eye as a "Breck Girl" in the famous 1970s shampoo ad campaign. In 1985, Smith launched her own line of clothing for Kmart, which has generated more than $300 million in annual sales. She discovered a lump during a routine checkup in 2002 and underwent a lumpectomy and radiation the following month. The actress's diagnosis came 15 years after fellow Angels star Kate Jackson's initial treatment for breast cancer. Smith, 62, still makes frequent television appearances; earlier this year, she guest-starred in an episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
