Fifteen years is a long time to be a married in Hollywood, so it's actually kind of surprising that it's taken tabloids this long to cook up rumors that there's trouble in paradise for Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith. Jada, however, isn't sweating the gossip one bit.
"Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope. This year, unluckily, it's us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it," the actress tells French magazine Gala. "Will and I know the truth. We're waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over."
Rumors of marital strife for Jada, 40, and Will, 43, first hit the tabloids last August, and were soon followed by reports that Pinkett-Smith had allegedly had an affair with her HawthoRNe costar Marc Anthony. At the time, the couple released a joint statement saying that their "marriage is intact," while Anthony called the affair rumors "laughable."
"These rumors are completely untrue," Pinkett-Smith reiterates to Gala. "I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does... But our lifestyle hasn't changed. Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects."
But while Jada admits to spending plenty of time away from her hubby, she slams reports that they're no longer living under the same roof. "That's ridiculous," she says. "We've always lived together."
Right now, Will is busy filming the M. Night Shayamalan movie Another Earth with his 13-year-old son Jaden, while Jada plans to travel the country with 11-year-old daughter Willow when she embarks on a music tour this summer. According to Jada, that's just a price to be paid for happy, successful children.
"As a mom, I'm very proud to see them pursuing the things they love," she says. "We leave them enough space to express themselves and make their dreams come true. We leave them free to make their own choices. We try not live through them."
