The vice: Drunk driving

With so much money, why don’t celebrities just call a car to drive them home after a night of drunken debauchery? Alas, My Name is Earl star Jaime Pressly decided to play the role of chauffeur on January 5th, and got busted with a blood alcohol level of .22, nearly three times the legal limit. “It’s unfortunate when celebrities make drunk driving seem ‘cool,’” says Irene S. Levine, PhD, a psychologist and professor of psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine, “because the consequences can be devastating, both for victims and for people convicted of the crime. Young people may think it’s okay to drink and drive when they see that their favorite stars are doing it with little personal or social cost.” Thankfully, no one was injured, but Pressly’s career will no doubt require some resuscitation.
