If you thought Jeremy London's bizarre kidnapping story seemed too strange to be real, you're not alone. His twin, fellow actor Jason London (pictured at left with his brother in happier times), believes that Jeremy's hiding the truth. Jeremy, an actor with a history of addiction, best known for TV roles on Party of Five and Seventh Heaven, claims he was recently abducted while changing a flat tire and forced at gunpoint to smoke crack. Palm Springs, Calif., police have arrested a suspect. But London's family now says the story is a fabrication -- and a cry for help.

"We love Jeremy, we only have his best interests in heart," Jason (best known for the 1993 film Dazed and Confused) tells People. "We feel he needs serious psychological help and drug treatment as soon as possible."

Jeremy specifically requested that his family not speak to the media, even going so far as to send them cease and desist notices. Jeremy claimed that legal action was necessary because their "lies" would ruin the investigation. But Jason insists that he's speaking out of desperation and concern.

"Jeremy's behavior right now is indicative of whenever he's back on drugs," says Jason. "The fact that he's lashing out against his own family and has shut us out is just one more sign of how sick he really is... For years, we've been worried sick about getting a phone call telling us that Jeremy's been found dead... We're desperate for anyone to get him help and that's why we're speaking out."

It's no secret that Jeremy has a history of substance abuse; he publicly shared the details of his addiction in May, even opening up about his custody battle with soon-to-be-ex-wife Melissa Cunningham. Now, Jason insists, "Jeremy and Melissa's story of the kidnapping doesn't add up," he says. "None of it makes any sense. Mainly, why didn't Melissa call the police if Jeremy went missing with these strange men until 2 a.m.?"

As for the strange men Jeremy accuses, the one in custody, Brandon Adams, has given a jailouse interview with RadarOnline, saying that he and Jeremy went on a consensual joyride for hours, seeking drugs. "There was no gun. There was never a pipe," Adams tells RadarOnline.com. "We got drunk and I hooked him up with some Ecstasy and Xanax." From inside the jail, the suspect adds that he and Jeremy "partied for hours" and that both the actor and his wife, Melissa, asked him to help them score pills that night.

As for Melissa, she told RadarOnline that "this is real. Jeremy's still in shock." She also claims that his kidnapping is part of a disturbing trend: "Police told us this is the new thing to do down here," said Cunningham, "rob people at gunpoint and make them do drugs so they won't be reliable witnesses." Okay, now we kind of hope she's lying, because that's terrifying.
