Start Stalking eBay! J.Crew Retires Malia Obama's Inauguration Coat

The retailer says it will stop producing the First Daughter's inaugural coat. Our solution? Head to resale sites to secure one for ourselves

Get ready to get bidding. Looks like resale sites like eBay will be the only option for fans of the J.Crew coat that Malia Obama wore for the president's inauguration yesterday. The brand's creative director, Jenna Lyons, tells TODAY that the item is officially off the market.

"The lady day coat that Malia was wearing has been in our line for years, and we’ll continue that, but we’ll retire the color,” Lyons says of the $325 topper, which is already sold out in 'Fresh Plum' on the site in every size but 0. “We won’t do the color again, just out of respect for the first family.”

Upon hearing the news, our first thought was...head to eBay! We found over a hundred listings for the style of coat—but currently only one in a purple hue that resembles the First Daughter's. Its buy-it-now price? A bargain at $239.99 (or best offer).

We're guessing that more purple 'lady day' coats will be listed soon—with auction prices climbing.

How much would you pay for a coat like Malia's?
