No Wonder Celeb Selfies Look So Good--They're Taken by Assistants

Those Instagram celebrity selfies are so good for a reason: Someone else took the shot

Ever wonder why your selfies turn out looking blurry, unflattering or just flat-out lame, when celebs like Rihanna manage to look fab and fierce in their pics? They have help.

Even though Oxford Dictionaries, which recently added “selfie” to its list of new words, defines the term as a “photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website,” the London Evening Standard reports many stars are enlisting “Instassistants” – as in Instagram assistants -- for help.

We’re not sure if that term will make the Oxford English Dictionary's next new list, but it does make us feel a little better about our own poorly compositioned self portraits to know singers, actresses and models aren’t also budding Ansel Adamses.

According to the newspaper, a lot of Rihanna’s selfies are actually captured by her BFF, Melissa Forde, while Heidi Klum’s mom is responsible for capturing many of her daughter’s model moments.

The Standard also surmises that Lady Gaga, Miranda Kerr, Gisele Bundchen and a slew of models have help in the Instagram department. One clue it’s not a real selfie: Both hands in the picture, the newspaper adds.

So, could Instassistant be the next big job for stars to fill? #CelebrityProblems.
