My dog Duke gets very jealous when my boyfriend and I are sitting together. He barks and jumps all over us. What can we do to make him stop? --iVillager michelles27

Control the resources, control the dog. In other words, work on basic control by being in charge of what he likes and asking him to do something for everything he wants. For example, make him sit before being petted and lie down before getting dinner. Also, have him on a leash at all times when you are home with him. Then use the leash to get gentle control. One exercise to try as often as possible is to tether it to a stable object and give him a well-stuffed white bone to chew. That will teach him to settle down and do something productive rather than pester you. And lastly, teach him to settle at your side by occasionally stepping on the leash while he is at your side. You can do this as you watch TV, read or work at the computer. A healthy relationship with your dog is all about maintaining control. If you have that, you'll both be living happily.
