Jenna Bush Hager's Baby Girl's Name Follows a Family Tradition. We Love It!

The former first daughter looks to her family tree for baby name inspiration

Former President George W. Bush is a grandfather! Daughter Jenna Bush Hager welcomed Margaret Laura over the weekend in New York City. Jenna shared pics of the emotional new grandma and grandpa holding the newborn with TODAY.

The baby will be known by the name "Mila," a name derived from a Spanish expression meaning "miracles," while given name Margaret means "pearl." According to the Social Security Administration, the name Mila has been on an upswing in recent years; it was the 174th most popular girl name in 2011, the latest year numbers are available.

Jenna's coasting on a baby name trend we called earlier: granny-chic names! While celebs like Keri Russell and Uma Thurman have chosen names (Willa and Rosalind, respectively) that sound like ones our grandmas might have had, the former first daughter drew inspiration from the baby's actual grandmothers, former First Lady Laura Bush and Henry's mom Margaret Hager. Using grandparents as name inspiration is a family tradition; both Jenna and twin sister Barbara were also named after their grandmothers. Sweet and traditional -- sounds about right for a Presidential granddaughter!
