If you look at Adam Sandler's and Jennifer Aniston's movie careers side by side, it may look like they're in a race to see who can star in the most romantic comedies. (That is, if you count I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry as a romantic comedy.) So, this news seems inevitable: Aniston and Sandler are pairing up for a movie about romantic hijinks.
In Pretend Wife, Aniston will play Sandler's... okay, we don't actually know the plot, but we're using our clever powers of deduction to determine that Sandler enlists Aniston to pretend to be his wife, but along the way they actually fall in love. Oh, and we think it takes place in Hawaii, given that the original screenplay title was Holiday in Hawaii. Yep, just call us Sherlock Holmes.
We have to admit, we're a little disappointed that both Aniston and Sandler are going in this direction. We love some of Sandler's rom-coms (especially the ones co-starring Drew Barrymore), but as he gets older, the boy-in-a-man's-body thing becomes less and less appealing. The direction he was taking with semi-dramas like this year's Funny People and 2004's Spanglish seemed a little more interesting. As for Aniston, it would be really fantastic to see her play an anti-Rachel Green for once. Maybe she should go for that Bond girl role after all... at least it would be something different.
