Given the fact that the last Garner-Affleck baby got the ever-so-unusual name of Seraphina, we were pretty excited to find out what Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck would come up with for their new baby boy.
So we were surprised (and maybe even a teeny bit disappointed) that the couple picked the uber-normal name of... Samuel Garner Affleck.
But we're kind of loving the choice now. For starters, it just seems totally fitting. By all appearances, Jen and Ben are a pretty normal, down-to-earth couple (as far as Hollywood celeb duos go, that is). And let's face it: you can't get much more normal in the name category than Jen and Ben. Apparently, they got over the need to pick an unusual name by the time baby number three arrived.
With a name like Sam (see, we've already latched on to the cute nickname possibilities), baby Affleck will be ready to hang with the guys from Day One. We're guessing that he has a future of watching more than a few Red Sox games with dad Ben and family friend (and fellow normal-named guy) Matt Damon, dad of four girls. (Damon was rumored to be hoping that the Affleck family's newest member would be a boy.)
We also love the fact that baby Sammy (another adorable nickname option) carries Mom's maiden name as his middle name. It's a sweet homage to her family -- especially since Jen is one of three girls.
Finally, we can relate to Samuel. Don't we all know and love a Sam? In a sea of Banjo's and Pilot Inspektor's, we get Sam. In fact, we like this kid already. So kudos, Garner-Affleck clan. And welcome, Samuel!
