When Jennifer Garner announced her third pregnancy with hubby Ben Affleck last month, celebrity watchers the world over collectively pretty much said the same thing: "They're going for a boy!"
But the Alias star and mom to daughters Violet, 5, and Seraphina, 2, actually says that "it would be so weird to have a boy," during an upcoming interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, according to Us Weekly.
While a mini-Ben would be "cool and different" and fun for her husband, because "he likes baseball and all that stuff," the pregnant actress, 39, says that a trio of little ladies would be pretty amazing. "Three girls is a great way to grow up...I'm one of three girls and my little sister is awesome, so I just want a Suzanna." ("Obviously, we'd be happy either way," she added.)
As any mom of a boy will tell you, it can be a little weird to have a teeny tiny penis growing inside of you. As a woman, sometimes it seems like girls are just more familiar. And if you already have a girl or two, like Garner, parts of your prior parenting experience can feel a little gender-specific. (Take day one of diapering, for example -- you never have to worry about pee on the walls with girls!)
If they have a boy, odds are there will be a major influx of trucks and trains to the Garner-Affleck playroom and possibly stricter enforcement of the "no jumping off the couch" rule. But here's our advice to Jen: It's really not as different as it seems. You're a great mom to two girls -- you'd be a great "boy mom," too.
