Jennifer Hudson to Open Up About Family Tragedy

The Grammy Award-winning singer breaks her silence about the murders of her mother, brother and nephew

For the first time, Jennifer Hudson will be speaking publicly about the day her life was turned upside down by the murders of her mother, brother and nephew.

In a new episode of VH1's Behind the Music, the new mom will talk freely about her time on American Idol, her rise to fame, and the tragic loss of her closest family members. In the fall of 2008, Hudson's world was rocked when her mother, Darnell Donerson, her brother, Jason, and her 7-year-old nephew Julian were all shot and killed.

According to a press release for the show, Hudson talks candidly about overcoming the pain and how she held it together while accepting her first Grammy Award just a few months later. The episode will also include footage of the Dreamgirls star interacting with her son, David Jr.

In addition to Hudson, the episode will feature interviews with her sister Julia, Randy Jackson, fiancé David Otunga, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Whitney Houston, Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke, Clive Davis and many others.

Behind the Music: Jennifer Hudson airs Monday, June 28, at 9 p.m. on VH1.
