Jennifer Lawrence Is Hosting 'SNL'-- and We Think She'll Be Great!

The Hunger Games star will host the NBC show on Saturday -- and we explain why she'll be a natural!

Jennifer Lawrence might have shown off her archery skills in the promo for her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live on Jan. 19, but don't expect her to do that during the actual show. She claims that she's going to be poking fun at different aspects of her life beyond The Hunger Games on the improv comedy series.

"I retired my bow and arrow for this weekend,” Lawrence tells Access Hollywood. As for what fans can expect, the 22-year-old teases, "Me, acting like an idiot. A lot."

1. Like her awards show speeches, Lawrence seems like she's going to just go with the flow when it comes to hosting SNL. She's been practicing and preparing all week and claims she's never "laughed this much in my entire life," but says she didn't ask her costars who have hosted SNL for advice.

"They should’ve [shared advice]. They’ve just said it’s going to be the most amazing experience of my life, which they were right about,” Lawrence says.

2. Based on what we know of Lawrence, she doesn't really need any help in the comedy department. She might be best known for her work in serious films like Winter's Bone, X-Men: First Class and, of course, The Hunger Games, but between Silver Linings Playbook and the countless quotable interviews and speeches she's done, Lawrence has proved she has excellent comedic timing. She's also shown that she's not afraid of "acting like an idiot," which is the key to being a great SNL host.

3. It helps that Lawrence is hilarious to begin with, and not afraid to poke fun at herself. If there's not at least one "I beat Meryl" joke during the entire episode, we'll consider this a rip-off. And though a Hunger Games spoof would have been fun, it's also been done before. We'd love to see Winter's Bone get spoofed in some way, because that seems a bit more challenging.

If this SNL hosting gig goes over well -- and we don't see how it couldn't -- can we be the first to suggest that Lawrence should get a recurring role on the show? Scarlett Johansson has one with "Mike's Busteria" and Cameron Diaz has appeared a couple times for "Cougar Den," so why not see if Lawrence can have a skit that sticks? Of all the young Hollywood celebrities around right now, she seems tied with Emma Stone for being worthy of one.
