Jennifer Lopez is juggling American Idol, her film and music careers, and raising twins -- but her 24-year-old beau still lives on the wild side! A little too wild, in fact. People reports that Casper Smart, the hip-hop dancer whom Lopez has been seeing, may be facing jail time for multiple speeding and traffic-related charges -- including illegal drag racing!
Smart (real name: Beau Paul Smart) has a record of violations dating back to 2004, which means he's been breaking traffic laws pretty much since he started driving. In addition to the drag-racing arrest, he's been charged twice with speeding over the legal limit over 65 miles per hour; once with speeding on a motorcycle over 100 miles per hour; and three times for driving without a valid license. He's also been charged with evading tolls and failing to appear in court.
Most of these are minor misdemeanors, but they add up to something more serious. In March, Smart went to court to plead not guilty, but ended up entering a no-contest plea. (The "I didn't know I was going over 100" excuse probably wouldn't have worked more than once!) The dancer posted $26,000 bail, and must serve 10 community service days before he shows up for sentencing on Jan. 5. If convicted, Smart could face up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Lopez has been attracted to bad boys before: she dated Sean "Diddy" Combs (then Puff Daddy), and was famously present when he was arrested for weapons violations at a New York club in 1999. (Smart may be a speed demon, but at least he's not waving guns around packed nightclubs!)
The singer and back-up dancer Smart have been casually dating for the past two or three months. A back-up dancer on her tour, Smart reportedly met Lopez when he danced back-up for her and estranged hubby Marc Anthony at the American Idol finale in May. Earlier this week, they were spotted smooching at an American Music Awards afterparty. He's cute, Jennifer -- just make sure you're the one at the wheel, okay?
