Having lived the majority of her relationships in the public eye, Jennifer Lopez knows a thing or two about dealing with a breakup -- like her high-profile split from Sean "Diddy" Combs in 1999, her broken engagement to Ben Affleck in 2003, or the dissolution of her seven-year marriage to Marc Anthony this summer -- in front of a nationwide audience.
But, as the 42-year-old actress-singer-dancer-American Idol judge admits in the December issue of Glamour magazine, she's still learning about what it means to be in love.
"I think I've finally learned the biggest lesson of all. You've got to love yourself first," she says. "You've got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with somebody else. You've got to value yourself and know that you're worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can't really have a healthy relationship."
So what does that mean for Lopez's rumored relationship with Bradley Cooper? Not surprisingly, J.Lo won't confirm that she has any romance in her life at the moment -- but says that when she does start a new relationship, it won't be splashed across the pages of the gossip magazines.
"I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye," she says. "You know the media -- they want to rush everything."
