Jennifer Love Hewitt has called herself a "love-a-holic" -- and we're starting to think she means it literally! It seems like every time we reload our browser, Hewitt has a new boyfriend.
This week, Hewitt, 31, has been linked to unknown actor-director Alex Beh, 27. "She's so into him," a friend told Us Weekly. "It's relatively new. But they're really cute together."
It would have to be relatively new, considering that Hewitt was reportedly dating a different actor-director, John Mallory Asher (Jenny McCarthy's ex) in April. That was after she broke up with her boyfriend one of year, actor-comedian Jamie Kennedy, in March. And she started dating Kennedy just two months after breaking off an engagement to Scottish actor Ross McCall. Before he came along, her high-profile boyfriends included late-night host Carson Daly, musician John Mayer, and kayaker Brad Ludden. How can she possibly have had this many relationships at 31 and keep up an acting career? Jennifer Love-Hewitt has the same number of hours in her day as the rest of us, right?
Perhaps Hewitt is simply a serial dater -- she's admitted as much herself. "I'm made fun of a lot for it in the press," she told USA Today in March, "but I don't think I'm that different from a large group of people out there who are better and happier when they can spend time with someone." In the same interview, Hewitt expressed her hope that there is "somebody great out there for me."
So why the constant turnstile of new beaus? Is she test-driving every guy who comes her way in hopes of finding Mr. Right? Is a fear of commitment at play (breaking up with guys when things get serious because she thinks there may be somebody better out there)? Maybe she hates going solo to public, red-carpet events. Maybe she find being single too uncomfortable because she's raredly given it a shot.
We all know somebody like this, who's never alone for long. The downside of serial dating is that it can turn into a kind of escape, going from guy to guy. But part of growing older is realizing what makes you feel happy and fulfilled -- and if Jennifer Love Hewitt is following her own happiness, then more power to her.
