Jennifer Love Hewitt, 31, is having second thoughts about dating famous men. "I am starting to think maybe that's not the way to go," said the Ghost Whisperer star -- whose high-profile relationships have included Jamie Kennedy, John Mayer and Joey Lawrence -- in a candid radio interview with Ryan Seacrest. Hewitt confessed that she'd been on cheated on "a lot."
"And it's brutal. Once I found out on television and that was awesome," she recalled. "And then another time I found them together -- and that was, wooo!" A third boyfriend's infidelity came to light when Hewitt "had a feeling" and took a look at his phone.
But Hewitt hasn't given up on love -- quite the opposite. With her new self-help book The Day I Shot Cupid (Subtitle: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic), Hewitt is trying to reclaim romance on her own terms. And that means dating guys who don't need to be "changed."
"Men will show you who they are and who they're going to be in the relationship in the first six dates," Hewitt advised Seacrest. "The first time one of those red flags pops up... we all go, 'Oh, did they really just do that? They didn't mean it.' But they meant it. They really meant it."
Ironically, Hewitt dedicated the book to recent flame Jamie Kennedy -- before they broke up. She still thinks it's appropriate, though, because Kennedy "taught me the most" about relationships. "He really taught me how to look at the reality of things like love, whereas I had my head in the clouds before."
