Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey were together for five years but with their matching goofy senses of humor, they seemed well-suited. When they split up this past April, both Carrey, 48, and McCarthy, 37, released statements saying they were "grateful" for their time together. Now for the first time, McCarthy is talking about the breakup -- and naturally, she's chosen to open up to Oprah Winfrey. (Wouldn't you?) Here's a preview of her interview, airing Tuesday on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
According to People, McCarthy tells Winfrey that she knew the relationship was over when she stopped enjoying her time with Carrey.
"The first thing is, when it's not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and doing an inquiry into the relationship," says the actress.
Calling herself a "warrior mom," McCarthy says that her personal strength has helped her get over the relationshp -- although she claims she never got "caught up being a celebrity's girlfriend."
So is there a new man in McCarthy's life? At the moment, it's only her 8-year-old son Evan. McCarthy tells Oprah that she's only been "diet dating," and "not taking anything too serious right now."
The interview airs Tuesday on The Oprah Winfrey Show, just as McCarthy's new book about romance -- called Love, Lust & Faking It -- hits stores.
