Is there an age limit on posing for Playboy? Jenny McCarthy doesn't think so. Nearly 20 years after she first stripped down for the magazine, the Love in the Wild host is doing one last nude pictorial for the July/August issue.
"My comment on posing for Playboy: Why should only 20 yr olds be considered sexy? Let's here it for the MILFs," McCarthy, who turns 40 in November, tweeted Wednesday.
The TV personality owes a lot to Playboy. After posing for the October 1993 issue, she was awarded the Playmate of the Year title, which led to her big break as the host of MTV's Singled Out. In 2009, McCarthy said she would jump at the opportunity to appear in the magazine again, but didn't think it would be offered.
"I would absolutely pose for Playboy," the mother of 9-year-old Evan told the press. "I would be so flattered if they asked me. It's probably not going to happen, but I think I want to do it again."
We love that McCarthy isn't shying away from Playboy just because of her age. The magazine is notoriously obsessed with youth: according to Wikipedia, the oldest woman to ever become a first-time Playmate was 35-year-old Rebecca Anne Ramos, who posed in 2003. By the standards of Hugh Hefner, an octogenarian who only dates girls in their early 20s, a 35-year-old woman is downright over-the-hill.
That, obviously, is ridiculous. Some of the best bodies in the world belong to women who are well over 35. What Playboy subscriber wouldn't kill to open the centerfold and see Jennifer Lopez (42), Jennifer Aniston (43) or Cameron Diaz (39)? Heck, even a nude photo of 66-year-old Helen Mirren would have issues flying off the newsstands! Beauty is ageless, and that's the naked truth.
Whether it's appropriate for the mother of a 9-year-old boy to pose nude is another matter, and one that's already being debated. Time magazine's HealthLand blog says it's inappropriate and inconsiderate to her son; CafeMom's The Stir says it's empowering to "hot 39-year-old mamas everywhere." Hopefully it's something that McCarthy has thought out carefully, and is ready to explain to Evan when the time comes.
The Jenny McCarthy issue of Playboy, which will also contain an interview with Charlie Sheen, hits newsstands this summer.
