Jeremy Renner Shoots Down Rumors That He's Gay

The actor gets heated when addressing rumors about his sexuality: "I want my personal life to be personal, and it's not f**king true!"

Jeremy Renner has made a name for himself playing a series of tough guys in testosterone-fueled action dramas, so it's not surprising that he's just as intense in real life. In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol star minces no words when it comes to questions of his personal life.

In particular, Renner, 41, takes a moment to slam rumors that he's homosexual.

"I want my personal life to be personal, and it's not f**king true…," he says about the speculation about his sexual orientation. "And I don't care if you're talking about things that are true, you're still talking about my personal life...How about I go peek in your window, take what underwear you wore last night, whose husband you were f-ing, and shove that in the megaphone throughout your neighborhood? How does that feel?"

Like fellow tight-lipped action star Daniel Craig, Renner keeps his private life just that -- and he has no interest in over-sharing like so many outspoken celebrities. But in a Details article last fall, the future Bourne star did reveal that "dating is difficult" and that his closest companion was his pet.

"[R]ight now the only thing consistent in my life is that little dog. That's why I got it. I was getting really lonely," he said in the November issue.

Unfortunately for Renner, that dog, a French bulldog puppy named Franklin, died unexpectedly in March while his friend and business partner Kristoffer Winters was dogsitting.

According to TMZ, Renner was "extremely close" to Franklin and was grief-stricken after his sudden death.
