The Jersey Shore cast is pitching in to restore the town that made them famous. On Thursday, Nov. 15, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Vinny Guadagnino, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Ronnie Magro, Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio, Jenni "JWOWW" Farley and Sammi Giancola will host a live benefit for the rebuilding and restoration of Seaside Heights, N.J. Watch Vinny's promo below:
"On behalf of my castmates... It's definitely sad to see the place that we made our second home be destroyed like that," Guadagnino tells fans. "But at the same time, we're all going to come together and hopefully rebuild it, and [we're] praying that next summer it will still be a place where we can come back and party."
The benefit special is being aired in conjunction with the charity Architecture for Humanity, which specializes in reconstructing communities after natural disasters. The money raised will go directly into a new fund called "Restore the Shore," in order to support local business owners and residents, as well as rebuild the boardwalk.
Say what you will about the Jersey Shore cast, but they have been actively pitching in help out the residents of Seaside Heights in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Snooki worked a celebrity phone bank on Good Morning America (which ultimately raised more than $9 million) and sent bags of clothes and blankets. Vinny and Dina have been volunteering with cleanup, and encouraging others to do so via Twitter. Pauly DJ'd Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan's Halloween Hurricane Telethon. And JWoww, is helping out her fiance Roger Mathews, whose own house was flooded by the hurricane -- and who has been roaming flood areas on his jet ski to find stranded New Jersey residents. (Watch JWOWW talking about the destruction on The Tonight Show with Jay leno, below.)
