Soak in all The Situation and Snooki while you can, because they might be gone after season 2 of Jersey Shore ends! Rumors are racing through TV-land that the original cast, including Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "J-WOWW" Farley, Ronnie Magro, Vinny Guadagnino, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, and Paul DelVecchio aka "DJ Pauly D" will be replaced soon.
Whether a casting change will arise due to recent pay demands (TMZ reports that the original crew were ultimately offered $10,000 per episode) or due to voluntary departure (according to US Weekly, J-WOWW "cried her eyes out" when she discovered she'd have to do a second season), this upcoming season could, in fact, be the end of the line for everyone's favorite fist-pumping, GTL enthusiasts.
Entertainment Weekly has reported that "casting additions" will be made during the second half of the new season. While it's not clear whether "additions" mean "replacements", in the reality-TV universe, odds are that big changes are afoot.
Doron Ofir, the man behind Jersey Shore, recently spoke with BlackBook about selecting the original cast, including his first experience with (the now-household name) Snooki. “There are still streaks of bronze on her application, literally bronze fingerprints all over it,” he said, adding, “She had just come from a tanning salon.”
C'mon, there may be plenty of imitators lining up, but there can only be one Snooki, as far as we're concerned! The second season of MTV's Jersey Shore begins on July 29 with the original cast kicking things off in Miami.
