Goodbye, Guidos! 'Jersey Shore' Ending After This Season

MTV confirms that the gang's days of bar brawls, tequila shots and drunken hookups are coming to a close

Get ready to give your fist-pumping arm a much-need rest!

Ever since Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi announced her pregnancy in March, there's been speculation that the reality show that made her a household name would soon come to an end. (Afterall, Snooki's wild, party-girl antics wouldn't be nearly as appealing knowing she has a mini meatball at home.) And now MTV has officially confirmed that season 6 of the show, which kicks off on Oct. 6, will be the last.

Before the premiere of the final season -- which recently wrapped filming in Seaside Heights, N.J. -- MTV will treat fans to a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane. (Or perhaps Blackout Alley would be more appropriate?) The network will feature a one-hour retrospective look at the series' highlights, titled "Gym, Tan, Look Back," which will air right before the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 6.

After news broke of the show ending, Snooki took to Twitter to let it all out. "Yes, sadly it's true," the new mom wrote on Aug. 30. "This upcoming season of Jersey Shore will be our last. But it was fricken INSANE. I will always love my roomies!"

Die-hard fans will surely be sad to bid farewell to Snooks and the gang, but luckily they can still tune into the show's two spin-offs: The Pauly D Project and Snooki & JWOWW. And if we're all really lucky, there just might be a special covering Snooki's wedding to fiance Jionni LaValle in the future.

"I would love to have a Snooki-Jionni wedding," MTV reality executive Chris Linn told EW. "That could be amazing."
