'Jersey Shore' Star Vinny Guadagnino Lands His Own Talk Show

The Staten Island native gets his own talk show on MTV, taking place in his home and featuring cameos by his beloved mom and hilarious Uncle Nino

Jersey Shore will never die. True, MTV's outrageous ode to Garden State party people is set to end next month, but the spin-off possibilities are shaping up to be, well, endless. There was the Pauly D Project. There was Snooki & JWoww. And now, drum roll, please…the network has greenlighted The Show With Vinny, a series that MTV describes as a "talk show/reality series" out of Vinny Guadagnino's Staten Island home.

“Vinny's unique mix of humor, intelligence, curiosity and heart make him the perfect choice for this genre-busting take on the interview format,” said Chris Linn, MTV's executive vice president of programming and head of production, in a statement. And, well, "genre-busting" is one way to describe the show, which will lure celebrities to Vinny's home to join his big Italian family for dinner and, no doubt, lots of colorful discussion. Jersey Shore fans are already familiar with Vinny's mother, Paula, and his Uncle Nino, a hard-drinking party dude in his own right.

No doubt Vinny's looking to mine some of the natural comedy that arises when his outlandish clan gets together. "I'm just trying to like make that transition from reality to other things on TV," Vinny told OK! Magazine back in September. "A lot of people have gotten their start from MTV, like Adam Sandler and Jon Stewart."

Vinny's been called the most sensitive member of the Seaside Heights crew, but he's still a muscle-shirt-donning, GTL enthusiast. So it's safe to say his brand of talk show humor would be closer to Sandler's goofy persona than Stewart's erudite take on politics.

Of course, Vinny could surprise us. Maybe he and his loopy Uncle Nino will pontificate on how the U.S. should contend with the situation in Syria right now. Or maybe not.

So far, the results are mixed for Jersey Shore's other spin-offs. The Pauly D Project, a reality show that follows Pauly Delvecchio and his friends from his Rhode Island hometown, premiered on March 29th to 2.9 million viewers. But by the fourth episode, the viewership had dropped to half that number.

Snooki & JWoww, a reality series that followed Snooki's growing baby bump after these BFF's moved to Jersey City, premiered on June 21st to 2.4 million viewers. It went on to average only about 1.6 million viewers a week, but it's set to return for its second season on Jan. 8th (at 10 p.m. ET), with Snooki's baby's birth as a major plotline.

It sounds like Vinny's series will be more of a departure from the usual Jersey Shore-type high jinks, anyway. Not that there won't be high jinks: As previously mentioned, Uncle Nino will be present.
