It seems all that fist pumping got Ronnie Magro into some trouble last year. The newly famous star of MTV's reality series Jersey Shore has revealed to PEOPLE that he was arrested on Sept. 4 for aggravated assault, following an altercation that was caught on camera (and will reportedly be edited into a future episode.)
The victim was allegedly punched with a closed fist after tempers flared; according to Magro, the man was shouting racist remarks at the cast's bodyguards and may have spat on them.
"I really don’t feel bad for the altercations that I did get into in Seaside because I’m really not a person who likes to fight,” the reality star said. “He was just being a drunk jerk, saw the camera … [and] I think he chased us down like two blocks or something like that. At that point, you’re like, ‘What am I gonna do?’”
Magro spent just a few hours in jail before being released on $600 bail, but still admits the experience isn't one he wants to relive.
“I definitely felt out of place,” he says of landing behind bars. “It’s definitely a place I never want to go back to again. Definitely a lesson learned.”
Magro says the charges against him have been dropped and that he has few regrets about the incident. “People [were] out of hand,” he says. “I regret getting arrested. I don’t regret having the fight.”
