Jesse James hasn't spoken to his father in six years. Turns out, that may have been a big mistake: James' dad, Larry James, has now gone public about his son's childhood love of Nazis, the alleged lies his son has told about his upbringing and the fact that Sandra Bullock never met the family. In the interview below, obtained by TMZ, the elder James admits that his son's shocking Nazi pictures weren't a fluke and claims that the biker hero has always been a little fascinated with Hitler.
"I don't ever recall my son dressing like that," says James' dad, referring to a recent photo that surfaced of his son impersonating a Nazi, "but he did have a fascination with the Nazis and it started at an early age. He liked their uniforms, he liked their war machines, he liked their guns -- he liked everything about them... I'd buy him books, not about Nazism, but about the war."
And if you're thinking right now that maybe his dad should have tried to get the boy into baseball or skateboarding, it gets worse. James continues: "I had a friend who was a Nazi that I used to do antique shows with, and he'd never met my son. And when he saw my son -- blonde hair, blue eyes -- he said, 'There's a perfect example for the master race'. And he gave me a bunch of literature to give to my son, and I gave it to him as a joke..."
A joke? Note to parents out there: Keep the kids away from your Nazi friends. Or, better yet, don't have Nazi friends! James claims he destroyed all of his son's Nazi paraphernalia when he started getting "really interested," and admits he has no idea if Jesse James, 41, remains interested in Nazis -- since his son hasn't spoken to him in years.
While he doesn't fully explain the rift between himself and his son, the elder James says that Jesse won't talk to anyone in the family "because... we know what his history is." He says that Jesse tends to wildly exaggerate his past; for instance, his youthful "trouble with the law" consisted of one 26-day stint in juvenile hall for "stealing some film out of a photomat." James also says that he never met Sandra Bullock -- in fact, no one from Jesse's family was even invited to the wedding! We have to wonder if that should have been a red flag for Sandy...
