After his very public divorce scandal with ex-wife Sandra Bullock, one might think Jesse James would be hesitant to return to reality television. But the motorcycle king is back, and he doesn't care what people think of him.
"I'm not afraid of s--t," James told E! News while promoting Jesse James: Outlaw Garage, his new Discovery Channel special. "Everyone can say whatever they want about me and call me whatever, but guess what? I'm still standing."
And James is still doing what made him famous -- customizing choppers for the rich and famous. But instead of working out of Hollywood, he now lives in Austin, Tex. He returned to the spotlight in December, when he appeared on Discovery's American Chopper: The Build-Off competition.
James' new special follows him and his team at Austin Speed Shop as they rebuild a classic 1932 Ford Roadster. He hopes it gets picked up as a series.
"I think I'm in a pretty awesome place in life," James, 42, said. "In light of everything that's happened, I think I came out of it a better dad and a better person while living and working in a place that's like heaven to me."
James recently made news for his parenting decision to allow his daughter Sunny, 8, to tattoo her name on his wrist.
"There's a little bit of personal life [in Outlaw] with the kids and kind of explaining where I am now," James said. "I hate the words reality TV because I think this is a refreshing change because none of it is scripted—there's no made-up drama."
Jesse James: Outlaw Garage premieres on Discovery on April 9.
