Jesse McCartney flubbed the lyrics to "The Star Spangled Banner" over the weekend -- at the most popular American sporting event, no less. His NASCAR Pepsi 500 blooper was watched by millions of people at home and earned him some pretty strange looks from the drivers at the Fontana, Calif., raceway.
After the public embarrassment, the 22-year-old star turned to Twitter to confess to the big goof:
"Here At the Nascar race !So much fun! Can't believe I forgot the words to the Anthem! I've performed it 100 times. Bad Nerves today I guess"
Oh, in case you're wondering which lyrics Jesse missed, he skipped not just a word or two, but the entire second line of the song: "What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming."
Jesse McCartney, who has had hit singles on the radio and roles on the TV shows Summerland and Greek, isn't the first young star to mess up the National Anthem. Miley Cyrus famously forgot the lyrics on an episode of Hannah Montana.
How bad did you think Jesse's performance was? Chime in below!
