First Victoria Beckham named her daughter Harper, now Jessica Alba has named her baby girl Haven. Hmmm... might an 'H' baby naming trend be emerging? In a word, yes.
"We’ve been so focused on the mega-popularity of names starting with vowels that we may have neglected the rise of certain consonants, with h being a primary example," says Nameberry cofounder Linda Rosenkrantz. "The almost simultaneous naming of Harper Beckham and Haven Warren has brought it into the spotlight."
These celebrity moms aren't the only ones who have given their girls 'H' names. Samantha Harris named her second daughter, born in January, Hillary. Neil Patrick Harris has his own Harper, as does Tiffani Thiessen. And Nicole Richie has a daughter named Harlow.
What other 'H' names are hot right now? Both Rosenkrantz and Babynames.com founder Jennifer Moss say Hayden is hot for girls and boys alike, and Henry is popular for boys. Harper and Harley are trending more and more to the girls’ side, and the Hemingway-related Hadley is now a fast-rising girls’ name, Rosenkrantz says. Other H names slated for success, in her opinion: Hugo, Honor, Harlow -- and now thanks to Jessica Alba, Haven.
